National Police arrests man accused of killing his ex-partner in Los Girasoles

The National Police reported the arrest of a 22-year-old man, accused of fatally shooting his 20-year-old ex-partner, in an incident under investigation that occurred on the morning of this Sunday in the Los Girasoles sector, National District. The detainee was identified as Amauri Polanco Herrera, 22 years old, identified as the alleged perpetrator of the death of Noemí Suárez Marte, 20 years old, who died from a gunshot wound to the left orbital region, according to certification of the death certificate. According to the preliminary report, the incident was recorded around 9:00 in the morning, when police officers were alerted about a person who had died from a gunshot wound inside a residence located on Mirador Street, in the aforementioned sector. Investigations establish that the aggressor showed up at the victim’s home around 8:30 a.m., claiming he was carrying a computer for the young woman. Once inside the property, the shot that caused her death occurred. After committing the act, the aggressor fled aboard a vehicle.

Polanco Herrera was arrested in the act, with the EKOL brand pistol, model Jackal Dual Compact, 9mm caliber, which he was carrying illegally and was used to commit the crime, being seized. In addition, the KIA vehicle, model Niro LX, blue, license plate G721900, as well as two cell phones were seized. In the scene of the event, technicians from the Scientific Police collected a 9mm caliber casing, as part of the evidence gathered. The case is under investigation and the detainee will be placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the corresponding legal purposes.
