San Francisco de Macorís.- Hundreds of people participated this Sunday in a march called by the Collective of Popular Organizations and other social groups of San Francisco de Macorís, in rejection of the bill referred to by its opponents as the “gag law” and in demand of various community claims.
The mobilization went through several sectors of the municipality, where participants carried banners and chanted slogans in defense of freedom of expression, in addition to demanding improvements in basic services, respect for citizens’ rights, and an end to police abuses.
During the day, the organizers stated that the protest sought to express the dissatisfaction of different sectors regarding initiatives that, according to them, could affect public freedoms, while also demanding responses to issues affecting the communities.

The activity took place peacefully and included the participation of representatives from popular, community, and student organizations, as well as citizens who joined the demands raised during the march.
