The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM) reported that the Dominican government allocated another RD$1,770.65 million in fuel subsidies to contain the price increases in international refined products during the week of September 26 to October 2, 2026.
Given the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the limitations on navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, the international price of oil continues to record increases, especially in its refined products.
This week, a barrel of gasoline hovered around US$160, regular diesel around US$180, and premium diesel around US$206. The Dominican Republic imports finished products, not crude oil.
This situation forces the Government to make a readjustment of RD$3.00 pesos to premium gasoline, RD$2.00 pesos for regular gasoline, RD$4.00 for optimum diesel, and RD$3.00 for regular diesel respectively.
These adjustments seek to maintain the sustainability of our public finances and the country’s economic stability.

This crisis has forced the Dominican government to allocate more than RD$35.541 billion through the Anti-Crisis Plan, to cushion the impact of the price hikes on the pockets of Dominicans.
The subsidy allocated so far this year already exceeds those allocated in 2022, when the Government also had to allocate significant resources to contain the inflation derived from the start of the war in Ukraine.
For this reason, last Wednesday, President Luis Abinader advocated before the United Nations General Assembly for a de-escalation of the conflict and freedom of navigation, due to the impact this impasse is having on energy and fuel costs, especially for economies like that of the Dominican Republic.

However, for this week, LPG and Natural Gas prices will remain unchanged.
While those for jet fuel will be readjusted by RD$8.41, kerosene drops by RD$4.60, fuel oil #6 drops by RD$1.66, and fuel oil #1 drops by RD$4.08.
For the week of September 26 to October 2, 2026, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs mandates that fuels be sold at the following prices:
Premium gasoline will be sold at RD$353.10 per gallon up RD$3.00.
Regular Gasoline RD$317.50 per gallon up RD$2.00.
