“The hour of all narco-Chavista criminals will come,” assured Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa this Saturday, after learning of the announcement by his American counterpart, Donald Trump, about the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro. “The hour of all narco-Chavista criminals is coming. Their structure will end up falling on the entire continent,” he indicated on his X social media account. “To María Corina Machado and Edmundo González and the Venezuelan people: it’s time to recover your country. You have an ally in Ecuador,” concluded Noboa in his message, who did not recognize the Maduro government proclaimed in the last elections and who was in Oslo last December to accompany the opposition leader at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

Trump’s announcement stated that the United States “successfully carried out a large-scale attack against Venezuela” and indicated that “its leader, President Nicolás Maduro, has been, along with his wife, captured and taken out of the country by air.” Trump confirmed the attack a few hours after explosions and military aircraft overflights were reported in Caracas and other areas of the country.
