“The First Vote of Dominican Women in 1942” takes the stage to honor a historical milestone

Santo Domingo – Historical memory and the vindication of women’s rights come to life in the play “The First Vote of the Dominican Woman in 1942”, which will be presented on May 15, 16 and 17 at Casa de Teatro, in the Colonial City. The piece recreates one of the most transcendental moments in national history: the conquest of the right to vote by Dominican women, an event that marked a before and after in their participation within the democratic life of the country. Through a scenic narrative loaded with symbolism, the work highlights the value, struggle, and determination of key figures in this historical process. Under the direction of the outstanding theater director Wendy Queliz, the production brings together a large cast that brings to life important personalities of the time, combining acting, history, and social reflection in a staging that seeks to connect with the new generations.
