Santo Domingo.- The Public Ministry requested a court to impose one year of preventive prison, as a coercive measure, on a man who, on August 24, murdered and dismembered a sister with a bladed weapon after an argument, after he went to the victim’s home in the Los Restauradores sector, in the municipality of Mao, in Valverde province. Juan José Guerrero Quezada, 33 years old, caused the death of his sister Mildred Estefanía Guerrero Quezada, 35 years old. Subsequently, the accused dismembered the victim in his effort to make her body disappear. In the request for coercive measure, the Public Prosecutor’s Office indicates that after committing the act, the accused introduced part of the body into buckets and into a pot that went into the oven of a stove with the intention of cremating it.

The woman’s body presents multiple stab wounds to the chest, neck, and abdomen, in addition to having her lower limbs dismembered and a finger severed from her right hand, with the remains being sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) for judicial autopsy purposes. After committing the act around 11:00 p.m. on the aforementioned day, Guerrero Quezada left the scene, taking with him personal documents of the murdered sister and a cell phone, as well as the key to her apartment and a scooter, in addition to parakeets. Detail the instance, that the accused then proceeded to sell the victim’s cell phone for one thousand pesos. Also, he sold the parakeets to a veterinary clinic in the area. It indicates that yesterday the accused went to the victim’s home four times. The fourth time he pretended to have found the lifeless body with a loud scream heard by neighbors of the place, who went to the apartment, where they found the mutilated body of the young woman and immediately proceeded to notify the National Emergency and Security Attention System 9-1-1. Guerrero Quezada was then arrested and brought to justice. The instance was presented by the fiscal prosecutors of Valverde Víctor Manuel Mejía (holder) and Domingo Tejada, who gave the case the legal qualification of violation of articles 295, 296, 297, 298, 302, 303 and 309-2 of the Dominican Penal Code. The request for pre-trial detention to the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of Valverde was filed on the afternoon of this Wednesday, with the hearing set for August 28th.
