SANTO DOMINGO. – The Official Chamber of Commerce of Spain in the Dominican Republic (CAMACOESRD), through its Tourism Committee, held the panel “Health and wellness tourism: new opportunities for tourism in the DR”, within the framework of its traditional business breakfast.
The activity was attended by the Minister of Public Health, Víctor Atallah Lajam; the director of CONFOTUR of the Ministry of Tourism, Brenda Morales Mejía; the president of the Dominican Association of Health Tourism (ADTS) and CEO of Médico Express, Alejandro Cambiaso; and the president of the Board of Directors of the Dominican Development Foundation, Amelia Reyes Mora, who served as moderator.

In the opening, the president of CAMACOESRD, Paco Pérez, highlighted that the objective of the meeting was to analyze how the Dominican Republic can consolidate itself as a reference destination in health and wellness tourism, combining medical services, relaxation experiences and culture, which in turn boosts economic development and job creation.
Pérez emphasized that health tourism can position the country as an integral destination, with hospitals, clinics, spa resorts and aesthetic medicine, in addition to promoting digital health and comprehensive well-being under international quality and safety standards.
The meeting concluded with a call to foster responsible and sustainable investments in the sector, to strengthen the competitiveness of the Dominican Republic in this segment. The closing was in charge of “Ricardo Felip”, president of the Tourism Committee of CAMACOESRD.
Diplomatic authorities, entrepreneurs, tourism, health and finance executives, as well as investors interested in exploring new opportunities within this emerging market, attended the conference.
