Puerto Plata.- A collapse recorded in a caliche mine in the María O sector, in the municipality of Sosúa, Puerto Plata province, resulted in the death of Nicolás Domínguez and his son Yariel Domínguez, according to information confirmed by local authorities.
The incident occurred while both were inside the excavation, when a part of the structure suddenly collapsed, leaving them trapped under the rubble. Authorities reported that an investigation was launched to establish the causes of the collapse and verify the safety conditions under which the mine was operating. So far, no further details have been offered regarding possible responsibilities.
