Santo Domingo. – The deputy for the province of Peravia, Luis Báez (El Muchachito), denounced this Tuesday before the Minister of Interior and Police, Faride Raful, the threats he has received from the director of the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the National Police of the Dominican Republic (DICRIM) in Baní, Colonel Ariel Rosario.

“Today we are informing you of the threat that the DICRIM colonel, Mr. Ariel Rosario, sent me to make, we had a very courteous meeting, it is in your hands to carry out the pertinent investigations and take the actions that must be taken,” expressed the legislator.

Báez indicó que Rosario le envió una advertencia para que dejara de denunciar los atropellos, que, según el diputado, están cometiendo los uniformados contra los ciudadanos banilejos.

“The people of Baní and the people of Baní are waiting for actions from the competent authorities,” he emphasized.

It is recalled that Representative Báez has been the subject of reprisals after requesting last week to President Luis Abinader the dismissal of the director of the National Police, Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta, due to the constant abuses committed by police officers in his demarcation.

After making the aforementioned complaint, the law enforcement institution withdrew the security escort assigned to the legislator, a measure that —according to what was explained today— has already been reinstated. The complaint by deputy Báez was presented during a meeting led by the minister in the block of deputies of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) in the Chamber of Deputies, in which issues related to the actions of National Police agents were addressed.
