Danilo Medina says new Minister of Finance “has no ties to the PLD”

Santo Domingo.– The former president of the Republic, Danilo Medina, positively valued the designation of Magín J. Díaz as the new Minister of Finance, highlighting his technical profile and his experience in different governments over more than two decades.

Medina recalled that Díaz began his career in public administration during the government of Hipólito Mejía, continued with Leonel Fernández, and later held important positions during his own presidential administration.

“Magín Díaz has no ties to the Dominican Liberation Party. He is a technocrat in the country. All governments that have passed through the State have taken him into account”, Medina said when asked by journalists.

“He has been in the four governments the country has had since 2000 to date,” Medina underlined. Magín Díaz was sworn in last Wednesday by Vice President Raquel Peña, after being appointed by decree 386-25 by President Luis Abinader, replacing José Manuel (Jochi) Vicente, who resigned from the position. During the inauguration ceremony, Díaz stated his commitment to work responsibly to contribute to the economic stability of the country.
