Suspended hearings will be rescheduled by the courts according to the rules of each matter. In the jurisdictions where there will be no work, no in-person or virtual hearings will be held, although access for procedures and consultations through the Digital Access portal will be maintained. The Judiciary highlighted that, on Wednesday, October 22, alone, 277 virtual hearings were held and 427 requests were attended to through that platform, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the digital system implemented. Also, the Permanent Attention Offices and their support areas will continue to operate to attend to emergency cases, while the staff enabled for teleworking will continue to perform their duties normally. SANTO DOMINGO. – The Judiciary announced the suspension of jurisdictional and administrative work for this Thursday in the Judicial Departments of Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional, San Cristóbal, Barahona and San Juan de la Maguana, as a preventive measure against the effects of the tropical storm Melissa.
According to the official statement, in the other judicial departments the service will be maintained in person and virtually, in order to guarantee the continuity of judicial processes.
