Public Ministry requests jail time for man accused of throwing a dog from a residential building

Santo Domingo.– The Public Ministry reported this Wednesday that it requested preventive detention for a man who was arrested after being accused of throwing a dog from the eleventh floor of a residential tower, in the capital, which died upon impact with a vehicle. The request against Michael Williams will be heard this Wednesday by the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of the National District.

The man is accused of committing the crimes of animal cruelty and biocide in violation of the Animal Protection and Responsible Ownership Law (Law 248-12). The events occurred during the night of July 11th, when the defendant, according to the accusation, threw a dog from the 11th floor C of the Villa Palmeras XXII Tower, in the Bella Vista sector, of the National District. The file details that the animal died after impacting the hood of a vehicle, owned by Daniel Fernando Batista. The vehicle sustained visible damage, according to images and videos collected as part of the investigation.
