Santo Domingo.— The former Attorney General of the Republic, Jean Alain Rodríguez, stated this Tuesday that the then-judge of the Supreme Court of Justice, Miriam Germán Brito, came to his office to request that she be ratified in her position, a revelation that, he asserted, he is making public for the first time.
During an interview on the program “Despierta con la X”, Rodríguez maintained that he never had bad intentions against Germán Brito and denied that any confrontation, questioning, or dispute existed between them before that meeting.

“I do not have bad intentions, neither with that person nor with anyone, I have never had them,” stated the former attorney general when referring to his relationship with the former attorney general.
Rodríguez reported that the meeting took place when Germán Brito was serving as a judge of the Supreme Court of Justice and that there is evidence that she visited his office. According to his version, during the conversation, the magistrate allegedly asked him to confirm her in the position.

The former official described the episode as a “first” and explained that he responded to the request by warning him that there were various issues that could raise questions if he decided to expose himself publicly to the process.
“There are countless issues with you. You shouldn’t expose yourself because if you do, you will be questioned for these situations,” Rodriguez claimed he told her at that moment.
According to the former attorney general’s account, Germán Brito responded that she had no objections to being questioned and that she was willing to answer any questions that might arise.

The former attorney general maintained that subsequently, questions arose related to Germán Brito and other matters that, as he explained, became part of the public scene.
Rodríguez’s statements revive an episode involving two figures who later starred in one of the main institutional clashes recorded in the Dominican Public Ministry.
Rodríguez was at the head of the Attorney General’s Office between 2016 and 2020, while Germán Brito held that position between 2020 and 2024.
The former attorney general insisted that, according to his version, there was no prior conflict with Germán Brito and that his questioning was not a response to personal animosity, but rather to situations that, in his view, could raise questions regarding an eventual ratification.
The alleged visit of Germán Brito to Rodríguez’s office and the request for ratification constitute the central aspect of the former attorney general’s new statements, who assured that until now he had not made that episode public.
