Man wanted for assault on elderly person dies after confrontation with Police in Pantoja
Santo Domingo.– A man accused of involvement in an assault on a 72-year-old woman died on Saturday afternoon after a confrontation with National Police officers during an operation in the municipal district of Pantoja.
The deceased was identified as Jorge Junior Pérez Encarnación, 26 years old, a resident of Santo Domingo Oeste, who was wanted by the authorities for his alleged connection to a criminal act that occurred days earlier.
According to the preliminary report, agents from the Department of Criminal Investigations (Dicrim) were conducting surveillance when they located the individual on Salomé Ureña street, where a shootout occurred.
The Police indicated that, upon noticing the presence of the officers, the man would have fired at the patrol with a 9-millimeter caliber firearm that he was carrying illegally, which caused the uniformed officers to respond to the aggression.
The individual was transferred to Dr. Vinicio Calventi Hospital, where he subsequently died while receiving medical attention, according to the death certificate.
