Ortiz Bosch reacts to controversy over reports of salary deductions

Santo Domingo.– The general director of Government Ethics and Integrity (DIGEIG), Milagros Ortiz Bosch, referred this Monday to the statements of the deputy Jorge Frías, of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), who questioned public employees who have denounced alleged salary deductions to finance political projects. Through a message posted on his X social media account, Ortiz Bosch reflected on the right to inform and the responsibility that comes with the exercise of public function, highlighting the importance of transparency in a democratic system.

“Democracy not only recognizes the right to inform, but also imposes the obligation to do so. Silence, misinformation, or undue pressure affect transparency and weaken citizen trust,” the official said.

He also emphasized that protecting the institutions implies complying with the Constitution and with the rules of public administration, warning that repeating past practices is a mistake. Ortiz Bosch’s statements come after legislator Jorge Frías published a message addressed to employees linked to the PRM, whom he accused of providing information to the media about alleged salary deductions, warning them of possible political and labor consequences. The deputy’s message has generated reactions and reignited the debate on ethics, freedom of expression, and the protection of whistleblowers within the public administration.
