Santo Domingo.- The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, led this Sunday the delivery of the completely renovated Archery Range in Parque del Este, as part of the preparations for the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. During the event, Peña highlighted the Government’s commitment to strengthening national sports and creating dignified spaces for the training and development of Dominican athletes.

“Our support for sports is a national priority, and this type of work allows our athletes to prepare in optimal conditions,” he affirmed. The work, executed by the Ministry of Housing and Buildings (MIVED), with an investment of RD$43 million, includes new bleachers with a capacity for 456 people, offices, adapted bathrooms, a gym, a cafeteria, changing rooms, general lighting, and a perimeter fence. The improvements meet the international standards required for high-performance competitions. Earlier, Peña also participated in the Thirty-Sixth Ordinary National Assembly of the Union of Medium and Small Flour Industrialists (UMPIH), where he highlighted the impact of government policies for the strengthening of the MSME sector. He indicated that since 2021, more than RD$5,000 million has been allocated in subsidies to flour and wheat, and that credit to this sector has grown by more than RD$4,000 million.

SMEs currently represent 32% of GDP and generate more than 61% of employment in the country, according to the vice president. During the event, she was recognized for her leadership in favor of national economic and productive development.
