So far, the Dominican authorities have not reported any affected persons or material damage related to the seismic event.

The Dominican Republic is located in a region of high tectonic activity due to the interaction between the Caribbean and North American plates, which is why the recording of seismic movements of different magnitudes is frequent. The National Seismology Center of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) maintains permanent monitoring of seismic activity in the country and continues to follow up on the Samaná earthquake.
