Tropical wave will produce some showers on the afternoon of this Sunday
Santo Domingo. – The Dominican Republic’s Meteorology Institute (INDOMET) forecast this Sunday that during the morning hours, some local showers with isolated thunderstorms are expected in locations such as La Altagracia, El Seibo, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, Santo Domingo, among others, due to wind drag, the approach of a tropical wave and the trough aloft.
For the afternoon, moderate to heavy showers will be generated, with thunderstorms and wind gusts, in La Vega, Santiago Rodríguez, Santiago, La Altagracia, El Seibo, Monseñor Noel, Valverde, Dajabón, Elías Piña, Puerto Plata and Monte Cristi. By nightfall, these precipitations will begin to gradually decrease.
Tomorrow Monday, the humidity left by the passage of the tropical wave plus a trough in the middle levels of the troposphere, will be what will favor the occurrence of passing showers, being weak to moderate, with possible thunderstorms, in the early hours of the morning and early morning, over La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís and Monte Plata. In the afternoon, the rainfall will increase, generating moderate to heavy showers with electrical storms and wind gusts, Santo Domingo (especially in the north), Monte Plata, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, San Juan, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, among other provinces under the levels of alert and meteorological warnings.
Due to the rainfall and what is expected, the National Forecast Center of INDOMET raises 3 provinces to the meteorological warning level and modifies the meteorological alert levels, due to the risk of urban floods, possible rises in rivers, streams and ravines.

The temperature will remain very high, due to the time of year (summer) and the warm and humid wind from the east/southeast. It is important that the population continues to hydrate adequately with liquids, (preferably water), wear light-colored clothing, seek cool and ventilated places, avoid periods of greater sun exposure without proper sun protection during the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. In addition, keep in mind that children and the elderly are more susceptible to suffering the effects of these high temperatures.
Cyclonic activity in the Atlantic basin, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico:
A tropical wave located between the Cape Verde islands and the west coast of Africa is being monitored, which is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms, and has a 60% probability of developing into a tropical cyclone in 7 days. Due to its geographical position, we are closely monitoring this system and recommend paying attention to our next bulletins.

On Tuesday, we will remain under a humid environment, therefore, some rainfall will continue to occur in the afternoon over Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, among other nearby locations, both due to wind drag and daytime heating. While for the rest of the country, a sunny, partly cloudy sky will prevail and rainfall will be scarce.
