Former child actress Raquel Lee Bolleau has sued The Walt Disney Company, alleging that she was sexually abused repeatedly at age 14 by a company employee while filming the 2001 movie The Poof Point, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges that the employee, identified as John Doe, gave Bolleau alcohol and pressured her to drink it, telling her that she was “old enough” to handle it.
According to the lawsuit, the alleged abuse occurred in view of cast and crew members, but no one intervened. Bolleau accuses Disney of failing to protect her and violating child labor laws.
The actress also claims that her health and performance deteriorated following the alleged abuse. She says she was frequently intoxicated or suffering from hangovers on set, struggled to remember her lines and was eventually blamed for the decline in her performance.
Bolleau, who appeared in Malcolm & Eddie and The Amanda Show, says she eventually left acting and has spent the past 25 years dealing with the alleged consequences.
