The renowned Colombian singer Greeicy Rendón is going through one of the most difficult moments of her personal and family life, after her father, Luis Alberto Rendón, known artistically as “El Cachorro”, was arrested by the National Police of Cali on October 12th. The man was charged with the crimes of kidnapping and torture, as confirmed by the Attorney General’s Office. According to local media, the events occurred in May 2023 on a farm located in Llano Grande (Antioquia). According to the investigation, two caretakers of the place had been assaulted and tortured after being accused of stealing a safe with approximately 600 million Colombian pesos (about $155,000). The Prosecutor’s Office indicated that Luis Alberto Rendón would have acted as the determiner of the crime, that is, he ordered other people, identified as Élder Velázquez and José Francisco, to subject the victims to torture to obtain information about the alleged robbery. One of the workers was moved to a room where he would have been beaten, while the other was tied to a pole and repeatedly assaulted. The event ended when neighbors, alerted by the screams for help, called the police, which allowed the intervention of the authorities. Greeicy’s Response
Faced with the controversy generated by the case, Greeicy Rendón broke the silence through an emotional message published on her Instagram account, where she defended the family values with which she grew up and expressed her support for her father.The singer also expressed her admiration and love for her family, assuring that she still believes in human goodness:“The great values that are part of me today and that allow me to consider myself a great human being come from the people I grew up with… They taught me to work hard, to never take advantage of anyone and to do things the right way,” wrote the artist.
Greeicy, who recently collaborated on Karol G’s album “Tropicoqueta,” ended her message with a reflective phrase: “Conscience taught us that if it is clean, one rests well.” Trajectory of “El Cachorro” Luis Alberto Rendón, besides being the artist’s father, has had a musical career driven by the support of Greeicy and singer Mike Bahía, her partner.
