MABI releases their debut album Aquí Ahora, a sound journey of identity, liberation, and tropical roots

New York.- The Dominican group based in New York, MABI, presents its highly anticipated debut album Aquí Ahora: a conceptual work that combines Caribbean rhythms with alternative sensibility to narrate the emotional awakening of a heroine seeking to reconnect with her essence. Here Now is more than a collection of songs: it is a musical narrative about transformation, stripping away, love, and identity. Throughout seven tracks, MABI intertwines genres such as merengue, salsa, gagá, and pop with influences from Spanish rock and Latin folk. The result is a tropical-alternative sound that invites you to dance, think, and feel.

Each of the singles released in cascade is part of that cohesive story:

• “Careta” opens the story with a tropical-pop sound that explores duality and internal disconnection.
• “Café”, a pop-rock ballad with Latin folk, offers an introspective look at the daily cycle of discontent and escape.
• “Cariñito”, a merengue driven by guitars, tambora de pambiche/maco and hypnotic güira, celebrates love and beauty in the small things.
• “Lo Que No Sirve”, an alternative pop piece with urban and tropical influences, marks the breaking point: the decision to let go of what no longer contributes.

These songs, along with three unreleased tracks, complete the emotional and aesthetic universe of Here Now. The album was recorded and mixed in the Dominican Republic under the production of Federico López Schaper, with the participation of Dominican musicians Edgar Molina, Rocío Damirón, Gonzalo Frómeta, Luitomá and Puerto Rican BarbaBlanca. Mastering was done in New York City by Carlos Ruez. All the material was composed, written, arranged and co-produced by Rosa and Cisco, the songwriting duo that brings MABI to life. In addition to its musical proposal, MABI complements each song with cinematographic videoclips loaded with symbolism, offering a multidimensional experience that expands the narrative of the album.

On Wednesday, July 16th, at 7 PM, MABI will celebrate the launch of their debut album Aquí Ahora at Nublu (151 Loisaida Ave, NYC) with a unique experience that combines live music, Caribbean rhythms, and theatricality. MABI will be accompanied by his full band, “lo podere” —a vibrant ensemble that brings unique energy to the stage— and complemented by the extraordinary DJ Ultraviolet. At the Aqui Ahora Experience, MABI invites the audience to immerse themselves in rhythm, symbolism, deep stories, and Caribbean roots, combined with the energy of New York City.
