Santiago Matías requests psychological intervention for participants of “La Casa de Alofoke”

Santo Domingo.- The businessman and creator ofLa Casa de Alofoke“, Santiago Matías, has requested the intervention of psychiatrist Héctor Guerrero Heredia along with a team of psychologists to address the mental health of the reality show participants, in an effort to preserve their psychological well-being. During an edition of the program El Recetario del Dr. Guerrero Heredia, the specialist analyzed the behavior of the contestants of La Casa de Alofoke, observing that many still remained tied to the roles they played in front of the cameras. According to Guerrero Heredia, the defense mechanisms built could crumble between the eighth and tenth days of coexistence.

She pointed out that “in six days one could do a psychological intervention, but first an interview can be done to make mental health visible,” underlining the urgency of addressing this aspect within the television format. Matías, connected by telephone to the program, expressed his deep concern about recent episodes within the show, commenting that “last night there was almost violence”. It was then that he urgently requested the participation of the mental health team.

“Dr., I am calling you because I urgently need your intervention,” he said live. In response, Guerrero Heredia committed to forming a team of psychologists to provide professional support to the participants, assuring: “We are going to prepare that team, I promise you. We must make mental health visible.”

This move is added to the previous information revealed by Matías, who confirmed that the participants had been subjected to exhaustive psychiatric and psychological evaluations before entering the reality show, with the purpose of anticipating conflicts and ensuring a controlled environment. Among the professionals who were part of that process were Dr. Héctor Guerrero Heredia himself and psychiatrist Alexandra Hichez.

The psychiatrist emphasized that this intervention has the potential to become “one of the producer’s greatest social legacies,” by promoting psychological care to a massive audience. He believes that the project offers a unique opportunity to give visibility to mental health in high-impact media spaces, contributing to its normalization in Dominican society. This initiative aligns with the growing trend of integrating psychosocial care into television and media formats, reinforcing Matías’ commitment to a cause of public importance.
