Colombia.– The inauguration of Abelardo de la Espriella as president of Colombia for the 2026-2030 term will be marked by a wide participation of international delegations, heads of state, foreign ministers, diplomatic representatives, and members of royalty, in a ceremony that will make history by being held outside of Bogotá for the first time.
The protocol ceremony will take place in Cali, capital of the Valle del Cauca department, breaking with the tradition of holding the presidential inauguration in the Colombian capital. The decision makes the city the center of political and diplomatic attention in the region.
The mayor of Cali, Alejandro Eder, confirmed the attendance of King Felipe VI of Spain, who will lead one of the most significant international delegations that will participate in the ceremony.
Among the Latin American presidents who have confirmed their attendance are Daniel Noboa, of Ecuador; Santiago Peña, of Paraguay; Laura Fernández, of Costa Rica; José Raúl Mulino, of Panama; José Antonio Kast, of Chile; Nasry Asfura, of Honduras, and Luis Abinader, president of the Dominican Republic.
The list of special guests also includes the Prime Minister of Curaçao, Gilmar Pisas; the Vice Presidents of El Salvador and Guatemala; as well as the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Sweden, and Brazil.

Likewise, official delegations from Mexico, the United States, Germany, Portugal, and South Korea will attend, reflecting international interest in the start of the new Colombian government.
According to the magazine Semana, the presence of Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, is also expected, although his participation has not yet been officially confirmed.
The inauguration ceremony of Abelardo de la Espriella marks an unprecedented event in the political history of Colombia, by moving the transfer of power act to Cali, a city that for one day will become the main stage for regional and global diplomacy.
