Lima.- The National Police of Peru (PNP) arrested this Friday in Lima Cristian Hernán Yong Granadino, alias ‘Chuki´, who was wanted by the Spanish Justice and was included in the list of the most wanted worldwide by Europol for the murder of the teenager Silvia Rodríguez Fernández, which occurred in 2010 in the Madrid municipality of Leganés.

“The subject is responsible for the murder of the minor Silvia Rodríguez Fernández (16 years old), in Leganés (Spain), a crime that generated great international shock. After remaining a fugitive for 15 years under a false identity in Peru, he was finally located thanks to intelligence and biometric verification work”, the Police reported this Friday in a statement.

The capture took place through the Directorate of Investigation of Human Trafficking and Illicit Trafficking of Migrants, with the support of the National Central Bureaus of Interpol Lima, who verified that the fugitive had a false national identity document with another surname. The Police indicated that Granadino thus evaded Justice for 15 years and that actions of observation, surveillance, and tracking were intensified to find the fugitive.

Finally, he was arrested this Friday near the company Alimentos Cielo, located in the district of Lurín, in the south of the Peruvian capital. Interpol’s red notification alert was issued on November 16, 2010, six days after the teenager’s murder, which occurred on November 10. The National Police stated that the victim met Granadino when she was 14 years old and he was 28, and according to the young woman’s environment, “the relationship was marked by abuse“. “In October 2010, weeks before the crime, Silvia decided to break up with him after enduring episodes of physical violence“, the statement said. “On the day of her murder, Silvia had eaten at her house after returning from school and was last seen in the company of a friend. Her body was found the next day in a trash container by a homeless person, wrapped in a suitcase,” the PNP specified about the event, adding that there was DNA of the Peruvian at the crime scene. According to the investigation, Granadino had previously purchased a plane ticket to Lima, his hometown, to flee on the same day of the murder.
