Washington.- United States First Lady Melania Trump publicly requested that the ABC network take action against host Jimmy Kimmel, after considering a recent monologue aired on his late-night show offensive.

According to international reports, Trump called the comedian’s statements “hateful” and asserted that their content contributes to social division in the country. In that regard, he directly asked the television station to evaluate the host’s continued presence on screen. The controversy arises after Kimmel made a satirical comment about the First Lady during a parody related to the traditional White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The segment generated criticism, especially because it occurred a few days before a violent incident linked to that event. In her reaction, Melania Trump stated that this type of content “is not comedy,” but rather a discourse that, in her opinion, promotes hatred and deteriorates the political climate in the United States. She also accused the ABC network of repeatedly allowing this type of expression without consequences. The case has intensified the debate over the limits of political humor on American television, as well as the role of the media in contexts of high polarization. So far, neither ABC nor Kimmel himself have issued an official response to the first lady’s statements.
