Bogotá.- The Colombian senator and presidential pre-candidate, Miguel Uribe Turbay, “continues to fight for his life,” according to his wife, María Claudia Tarazona, expressed this Thursday in a message in which she thanked the medical team for “the titanic effort to keep Miguel alive.”

The politician from the Uribista party, Democratic Center, remains in critical condition at the Santa Fe Foundation in Bogotá since the attack he suffered on June 7 during a public event.

“With a smile I can tell you that Miguel is still fighting for his life, clinging to us, to his son, to the girls and to each one of you,” said Tarazona in a statement at the doors of the clinic, where since the day of the attack hundreds of people have gathered to pray for his recovery. Uribe Turbay, 39 years old, was wounded with two shots to the head and one to the left leg while speaking in the Bogotá neighborhood of Modelia to some supporters at a rally ahead of the 2026 presidential elections. The clinic, which until this week issued daily medical reports, reported on Wednesday that it will no longer release statements until significant changes occur in her health condition, which remains of “maximum severity” and “with a guarded prognosis”.
