Archbishop of Santiago on Jet Set case: “This is not over, we must trust in justice”

Santiago.– The Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Santiago, Monsignor Héctor Rafael Rodríguez, referred this Thursday to the judicial process involving the Espaillat siblings, Antonio and Maribel, due to the collapse of the roof of the Jet Set nightclub, a tragedy that has left a balance of 236 dead and more than a hundred injured.

During the mass for the Corpus Christi Day, held at the Cibao Stadium before thousands of Catholic faithful, Monsignor Rodriguez described the case as “very complex” and urged citizens to maintain confidence in the Dominican judicial system.

“This is a very complex case, I suppose. So we must trust the process that justice is carrying out. This has not ended,” expressed the prelate.

The religious man expressed his respect for the decision of the Permanent Attention court of the National District, which imposed an economic guarantee of RD$50 million, travel ban and periodic presentation as coercive measures against the Espaillat brothers, in addition to declaring the process as a complex case. Monsignor Héctor Rafael Rodríguez concluded by pointing out that the most important thing is to await the final decision of the judicial system and trust in the institutions:

“We must trust in justice and in the final decision, because it is in it that confidence has been placed.”
