One dead and thirteen injured by the explosion of a grenade in a central neighborhood of Bogotá

Bogotá.- One person died and at least 13 were injured by the explosion of a grenade thrown on Thursday night against a commercial area of the Santa Fe neighborhood, in downtown Bogotá, authorities confirmed this Friday. According to the Police, the attack was carried out by two individuals who were riding a motorcycle and who threw a grenade, apparently, at a nightclub. “Unfortunately, after a new report, it is confirmed that one of the injured by the explosion in the Santa Fe neighborhood, a 75-year-old person, died while being treated in a healthcare center,” stated the mayor of Bogotá, Carlos Fernando Galán, on his X account. The mayor added that he asked the Police to “intervene in the area” and that there is already “a line of investigation that will allow to identify those responsible”.

In recent years, several attacks of this type have occurred in the Colombian capital, one of them on February 19, 2025, when one person died and seven others were injured by the explosion of a grenade in the central San Bernardo neighborhood, where homeless people live and near the Casa de Nariño, the presidential palace.
