Puerto Rico.– The United States Coast Guard repatriated 51 Dominican and Haitian migrants to the Dominican Republic this Tuesday, after they were intercepted while traveling on a vessel off the coast of Aguadilla, in northwestern Puerto Rico.
According to the information provided by U.S. authorities, the vessel was initially detected by an air crew from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Following the sighting, the Coast Guard mobilized a vessel and a helicopter to carry out the interdiction.
Vessel was overloaded
The authorities indicated that the migrants were traveling in a precarious and overloaded vessel, a situation that posed a risk to the safety of the people on board.
Among those intercepted were 34 Dominican citizens, distributed as 30 men, two women, and two minors.

Likewise, 17 Haitian citizens were identified, of whom 15 were men and two were women.
After completing the corresponding procedure, the 51 migrants were repatriated to Dominican territory, as reported by the U.S. Coast Guard.
