Ukraine launched hundreds of drones at Russia on Sunday, killing at least six people in what was described as one of Kyiv’s largest aerial attacks since the war began.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said it destroyed 822 Ukrainian drones overnight, while Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that around 600 drones were detected heading toward the Russian capital. According to Sobyanin, about one-third were destroyed over the Moscow region.
An 83-year-old man was killed after a Ukrainian drone struck a private residence in the Moscow region, according to regional Governor Andrey Vorobyov. He also reported that a Ukrainian attack caused a fire at a Wildberries warehouse in the city of Podolsk.
In the southwestern Rostov region, a barrage of more than 150 drones struck three localities, killing five people, Governor Yury Slyusar said. The attacks damaged several homes and a railway station and also sparked a forest fire.
Over the past year, Ukraine has intensified attacks inside Russia using long-range missiles and large numbers of drones, increasingly targeting military industries and energy infrastructure.
