Caracas.- The acting president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, announced this Thursday works for the recovery of the infrastructure affected during the attacks of United States in Caracas and in three states near the capital last Saturday, when forces of the North American country captured Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

In a broadcast on the state-owned channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), the official assured that her nation “returns to work after the illegal aggression of which it was a victim on January 3rd”, which she also described as “vile”. According to various authorities, the attacks by US forces affected military installations, the national electricity system, and healthcare facilities, as well as civilian homes and spaces of the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC). On Wednesday night, Rodríguez warned that his country is experiencing “very delicate” moments and called “on all political factors” to “heal the consequences of extremism and fascism in Venezuela” and “the deep wound” left by last Saturday’s attack. He also called for “working in national unity so that Venezuela, in this complex moment of dangerous hours, advances towards a future of development, peace and tranquility in sovereignty to guarantee the future.” According to official figures, at least one hundred people, civilians and military personnel, died during the attacks, including Cubans as well.
