Gigantes del Cibao release 14 players ahead of the rookie draft

San Francisco de Macorís. – The Gigantes del Cibao announced this Friday the release of 14 players from their roster, in a strategic move ahead of the next rookie draft of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), scheduled to be held on September 10, 2025.

Within the list of players released are Roldani Baldwin, Alex de Jesús, Gleider Figuereo, Viandel Peña and Ángel de Jesús. Also removed from the organization were Rafael González, Jorge Juan, Abel Mercedes, Emmanuel Terrero, Ernesto Mercedes, Carlos Reyes and Kervin Pichardo. The group is completed by veterans Richard Ureña and Raynel Espinal, who had been part of the ensemble at different recent stages. The Giants’ president of operations, Alfredo Acebal, valued the players’ effort during their time with the franchise. With these moves, each player is free to sign with any of the other teams in the league, or to commit to playing in international circuits.
