Baltimore.– Jazz Chisholm Jr. made history with the New York Yankees by becoming the third player in the franchise to record a season with 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases, an achievement known as the 30-30 club.
The second baseman achieved the feat in the seventh inning of the game against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards, by hitting a two-run home run against Dietrich Enns, his 30th home run of the season, although the Yankees lost 4-2.
With this achievement, Chisholm joins Bobby Bonds (1975) and Alfonso Soriano (2002-03) as the only Yankees to reach the power and speed mark in franchise history.
Called to his second All-Star Game, Chisholm joins this season with Juan Soto, of the Mets (42 HR, 33 SB), as the only players in Major League Baseball with 30-30 so far. Other players who came close to achieving it include Pete Crow-Armstrong (29 HR, 35 SB), José Ramírez (29 HR, 39 SB) and Francisco Lindor (29 HR, 30 SB).
Chisholm expressed his excitement about reaching the mark: “It would mean a lot if we win the division with him,” highlighting that more than the personal record, the goal remains the team’s success.
