José Ramírez reaches 900 RBIs in the Guardians’ triumph over the Athletics

Ramírez achieved the milestone with a single in the second inning of the game against the Oakland Athletics, driving in the first run of the game in Cleveland’s eventual 4-2 victory, celebrated at Sutter Health Park. With that hit, Ramírez became just the fourth player in franchise history to reach 900 or more RBIs since this statistic became official in 1920. He joins legends like Earl Averill (1,084), Jim Thome (937), and Hal Trosky (911). “José is the heart of this team, and he never stops showing us why he’s among the best,” highlighted leader Stephen Vogt. “He’s a born competitor.” The Guardians’ offense, which had been sluggish in June with an average of just 2.8 runs per game, reacted early with a four-run rally in the second inning. In that inning, all nine batters on the team came to the plate, connected on five hits — including three singles and two doubles — and drew a walk. The opener Luis Ortiz also shone from the mound, throwing six scoreless innings and striking out 10, tying his personal record.
