Santo Domingo. – Dominicans Junior Caminero and Jhoan Durán were recognized among the best players in Major League Baseball during the month of June, after being honored by Major League Baseball (MLB) for their extraordinary performances with their respective teams.

Caminero, the stellar third baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays, was named American League Player of the Month, thanks to an outstanding offensive performance that places him among the top candidates for the season’s Most Valuable Player award.
The Dominican player closed June with a .327 batting average, hit 10 home runs, drove in 24 runs, and recorded an OPS of 1.075. His best moment came in the final stretch of the month, when he batted .481 with eight home runs in his last seven games, including a historic three-home-run game and a five-game streak of hitting the ball out of the park.
His performance was decisive in keeping Tampa Bay among the most consistent teams in the American League and also secured his participation in the upcoming Home Run Derby.
For his part, right-hander Jhoan Durán, closer for the Philadelphia Phillies, received the recognition as National League Reliever of the Month, after establishing himself as one of the most dominant firemen in baseball.
During June, Durán accumulated nine saves, a 1.64 ERA, and a 0.91 WHIP, in addition to striking out 18 batters in just 11 innings, for an impressive strikeout rate of 42.9%, the best among National League relievers with at least ten innings pitched.
