SANTO DOMINGO.- The operations department of the Tigres del Licey announced the return of left-handed pitcher Nico Tellache as a reinforcement for the 2025-26 season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League.

Tellache is a 27-year-old left-handed opener who is six feet tall and weighs 205 pounds who will be in his third season in the Dominican league.
“We are hiring a pitcher who knows the league and is proven in it, can help us in various roles from the mound, as needed by our manager, so it fits perfectly into the planning of our organization,” said Audo Vicente, VP of operations and general manager.
The Oregon native had a record of three wins and one loss last season with the Tigers in all stages. The North American reinforcement achieved 47 strikeouts and conceded only 11 walks in 45 innings, recording a ratio of 2.80 runs per nine innings and 1.17 WHIP.
The left-handed opener has an arsenal of four pitches: changeup (36%), four-seam fastball (30%), slider (17%), and sinker (11%). His changeup, which held a speed of 81.7 miles per hour, was one of the most effective pitches of the tournament, causing a 43% whiff rate in the 2024-25 winter season.
Tellache is a net product of college baseball in the United States. He took his first steps with the University of Oregon until in 2021 he had his first professional participation with the Ogden Raptors in the Pioneer League, an independent circuit in Utah.
Between 2022 and 2024, he pitched with the Caliente de Durango in the Mexican League before making the jump to the minor league system of Major League Baseball, pitching in Advanced A and Triple-A with the Seattle Mariners.
The North American reinforcement will be available from the first day of the tournament. The Tigres del Licey begin their home season next Wednesday, October 15, when they receive the visit of the Leones del Escogido starting at 7:30 pm.
