Rangers to rest Jacob deGrom due to shoulder fatigue; Guerrero Jr. receives good news after injury

KANSAS CITY – The Texas Rangers announced that right-hander Jacob deGrom will not make his next start, scheduled for this Wednesday against the Royals, due to shoulder fatigue.

The club’s president of baseball operations, Chris Young, explained that the star pitcher returned to Texas to be evaluated by doctor Keith Meister, responsible for his Tommy John surgery in June 2023. For the moment, the organization considers the situation as part of a workload management, after deGrom accumulated 140.1 innings in the 2025 season, his highest total since 2019, when with the Mets he surpassed 200 innings for the third consecutive year and won the Cy Young Award. So far this season, the five-time All-Star has a 10-5 record with an ERA of 2.76, showing a dominant level. In his last outing, on Friday in Toronto, he pitched five scoreless innings with five strikeouts.
