Salvador Pérez reaches 300 home runs and 1,000 RBIs in Major League Baseball

PHILADELPHIA. – Salvador Pérez wrote a new golden page in his career this Saturday by becoming the eighth catcher in Major League history to reach 300 home runs and 1,000 RBIs, during the game between the Kansas City Royals and the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

The Royals’ captain achieved the feat with a powerful swing in the third inning, sending the ball towards the stands in left-center field to seal his 300th home run and the 1,000th RBI of his career. Minutes earlier, in the first inning, he had already hit a two-run homer against starting pitcher Taijuan Walker, thus adding his second home run of the night and the 27th of the season.

With this achievement, Pérez joined an elite group led by legends like Mike Piazza, Johnny Bench, Carlton Fisk, Yogi Berra, Gary Carter, and Iván Rodríguez, in addition to Lance Parrish, as the only catchers with at least 300 home runs in Major League history.

He is only the 13th active player with 300 home runs and the 10th with 1,000 RBIs, becoming the third to achieve it in 2025 after Bryce Harper and Mike Trout. In the history of the franchise, only George Brett (317 HR, 1,596 RBI) and Hal McRae (1,012 RBI) surpass the historical records that Pérez is beginning to threaten. The star 34-year-old catcher is already the second-highest RBI producer for the Royals and is only 17 home runs away from surpassing Brett’s mark as the absolute leader in home runs. Salvador Pérez, with over a decade defending the colors of Kansas City, not only reaffirms his status as the face of the organization, but also strengthens his path towards a future place in the Cooperstown Hall of Fame.
