BUENOS AIRES. A campaign started by Argentine fans on the Change.org platform is requesting a replay of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain, following the Albiceleste’s defeat, and has already gathered more than 61,500 signatures.

The petition was created by fan Gisela Sánchez, who questions the refereeing of Slovenian Slavko Vinčić and asks FIFA to review the decisions made during the match played on July 19th at MetLife Stadium in New York.
In the document, the promoter maintains that some refereeing decisions influenced the development of the match and requests an investigation, although it does not present verifiable evidence to support the alleged irregularities.
However, these types of initiatives have no regulatory validity, nor can they force FIFA to modify the result of an official competition. According to the organization’s rules, the replay of a match can only occur under exceptional circumstances provided for in the regulations or by decision of the competent disciplinary bodies.
