As explained to EFE by the Director General of Disability, Jesús Martín, the department headed by Pablo Bustinduy has requested clarification as to whether people with dwarfism were denigrated at the athlete’s 18th birthday party, in violation of the law, which does not establish sanctions but does prohibit such activities for almost three years. Precisely, the Government wants to regulate as a serious infraction, with fines between 600,000 euros and one million euros, shows similar to the ‘bombero torero’ (bullfighter firefighter) and in general, the public exposure of a person based on their disability, in the reform of the law that the Council of Ministers wants to approve this Tuesday.

Concern about the Rebound Effect in Youth

The disability officer has expressed concern that “a young person who has so many followers, an influencer for young people, throws these kinds of parties that can have a rebound effect on youth.” «We are concerned that people with money, people with power believe they are immune», lamented Jesús Martín, who recalled that it has been prohibited in Spain for almost 3 years and that Bustinduy’s ministry «will not stand idly by in the face of those indications» published in the media. «The law is for everyone, for the humble and for the powerful». “Let the appropriate investigations be opened and, based on the conclusions, let action be taken,” he asserted.
