Asunción. – The single final of the Copa Sudamericana between Lanús and Atlético Mineiro will leave an estimated economic impact of 42 million dollars for Paraguay, according to local authorities reported a few days before the expected match at the Defensores del Chaco stadium.

The Paraguayan capital is preparing to receive between
40,000 and 50,000 fans, a figure that confirms the international magnitude of the event. The Minister of Tourism,
Angie Duarte, pointed out that hotel occupancy in Asunción and its surroundings is already
at 100%, driven by the high demand from foreign visitors.
Rise in services and international positioning
The increase in tourists has boosted key sectors such as hotels, gastronomy, transportation, entertainment, and tourism services. Duarte highlighted that state institutions, together with the private sector, are registering exceptional economic performance, a product of the international appeal that the final represents.
Likewise, the tournament final becomes a strategic showcase for Paraguay, reinforcing its image as a reliable and competitive host for major sporting events in South America.
Hospitality and culture to welcome visitors
As part of the welcome program,
Senatur has implemented the initiative
“Good Host”, which welcomes fans with music and typical dances at various border points. Cultural activities have also been organized at Silvio Pettirossi airport, where a constant flow of fans from abroad is expected.
The president of Conmebol,
Alejandro Domínguez, informed that around
30,000 tickets were purchased by fans from other countries, which ensures a vibrant and multicultural atmosphere during the final.
Third final in Asunción
The Defensores del Chaco stadium, with a capacity for 40,000 spectators, will be completely full, solidifying Asunción as a traditional venue for regional football. This will be the
third time that the Paraguayan capital hosts the Sudamericana final, after doing so in
2019 and
2024.
Authorities are confident that the event will leave lasting benefits for the country, boosting tourism, international projection, and new development opportunities in the service industry.
