They are showing an episode of Migrantes dedicated to the Chinese community in Chinatown of Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo.- The Chinese community in the Dominican Republic celebrated this weekend the screening of the third episode of the television series Migrantes, on a giant screen installed in the Chinatown of Santo Domingo, as part of the activities of the Autumn Festival. The episode, hosted by journalist Millizen Uribe and produced by Gelen Gil, was dedicated to Chinese migration and highlighted the contributions of this community to the economic, social, and cultural development of the country. During the activity, Uribe thanked the welcome and noted that the documentary was made with respect and admiration. “Chinese migration is silent and hardworking; it has brought economic development, color, and flavor to the Dominican Republic,” he said. The day included the participation of Rosa Ng, president of the Flor para Todos Foundation; Zhou Yuqi, counselor of the Chinese Embassy; and Ely Encarnación, deputy general director of Migration. There were also cultural presentations such as the Lion Dance and traditional dances performed by children from the Chinese Institute and the Dominican Chinese College.

The episode highlighted figures like Yin Tieh Hsieh, known as the “father of rice” in the country, as well as the commercial and social contributions of Chinese migrants in communities like Bonao and in Chinatown itself. Migrants airs on Saturdays at 9:00 p.m. on Telesistema, channel 11, and is available on YouTube. The series combines documentary and social narrative to show how different migrations have shaped the Dominican identity.
