The Ecuadorian Police arrested a man allegedly involved in the rape and murder of an 83-year-old woman, an event that occurred last Sunday in the municipality of Déleg, in the Andean province of Cañar (south). The victim, identified as Luz B. and who was found dead at her home, showed clear signs of sexual violence that were later certified by the autopsy, the Police announced this Thursday. The case was brought to the attention of the Prosecutor’s Office, which ordered the removal of the body and the corresponding proceedings. Upon learning of the case and after investigation, a search was conducted and Wilson Javier Q, 35 years old, the alleged perpetrator of the act that has shocked the citizenry, was arrested in the Dubliay sector of the population. Groups of Déleg residents, outraged by this crime, went to the Prosecutor’s Office to demand that the detainee be handed over to them and, failing that, damaged part of the facilities and a Police vehicle.
