ACOFAVE holds meeting with deputy Tobías Crespo to promote road safety and vehicle fleet management
Santo Domingo – The Association of Vehicle Manufacturers Concessionaires (ACOFAVE) held a working lunch with deputy Tobías Crespo, author of Law 63-17 on Mobility, Land Transportation, Transit and Road Safety, with the aim of exchanging ideas on the application of this regulation and exploring joint solutions that contribute to improving road safety in the Dominican Republic.
During the meeting, Crespo outlined the importance of complying with the provisions of the law, such as the implementation of vehicle technical inspection, the modernization of the vehicle fleet, and the strengthening of the motor vehicle registry, measures that, he emphasized, would have a direct impact on the reduction of traffic accidents and on the organization of mobility in the country.
ACOFAVE executives agreed on the need to promote these advances through coordinated work between the National Congress, the Government, the private sector, and civil society. In this regard, they reiterated their commitment to collaborate with the authorities in the search for sustainable solutions that guarantee greater road safety, efficient mobility, and a vehicle fleet in optimal conditions.
The CEO of ACOFAVE, Yris Nelsi González, emphasized that “our interest is to contribute to constructive dialogue and the implementation of measures that strengthen mobility and road safety for the benefit of all Dominican citizens.”
The meeting was attended by members of the ACOFAVE Board of Directors and representatives of vehicle concessionaire companies in the country, who are part of this guild, who shared their contributions and concerns regarding the social, economic and environmental impact of vehicular traffic.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue generating spaces for dialogue and coordination to allow progress in the modernization of the vehicle fleet, the reduction of accidents, and the improvement of road safety for the benefit of the citizenry.
