At least three people were injured this Tuesday, one of them seriously, after several forged elements of a building under construction partially collapsed in the center of Madrid, where possible trapped people are being sought. The emergency services of the Spanish capital indicated that the Samur-Protección Civil paramedics attended to three workers, one of whom was taken to a hospital with a broken leg, while two others sustained minor contusions. Eleven fire crews, as well as several ambulances and police officers, who cordoned off the area, went to the scene, Hileras street, which is located between Ópera square and Puerta del Sol, in the city center. The canine guides of the National Police and drones of the Municipal Police are working to find possible people trapped in that building, which was being renovated for a hotel. The workers who were working in the building missed some colleagues, which led to the activation of search services to check if they were inside or outside the block, reported Emergencias Madrid. Workers from stores near the site told EFE that they heard a “bang” and that “a lot of dust” began to come out with a “strange smell”.
