Santiago.– The University Clinic Unión Médica del Norte highlighted this Friday the relevance of cognitive stimulation and neuropsychological rehabilitation as therapeutic tools that contribute to improving the quality of life of patients with Alzheimer’s, a neurodegenerative disease that continues to be one of the greatest challenges for modern medicine. Mr. Rafael Julián Sued, neuropsychologist at the institution, explained that these interventions allow not only to delay cognitive decline, but also to strengthen preserved skills and promote autonomy. “The work of the multidisciplinary team and, especially, the intervention of the clinical neuropsychologist, are essential pillars to offer comprehensive support,” he affirmed. Cognitive stimulation includes activities such as puzzles, memory games, and targeted exercises that keep the brain active and reduce the impact of cortical deterioration. Meanwhile, neuropsychological rehabilitation proposes compensation, substitution, and restoration strategies, benefiting both the patient and their family members, who receive tools to manage behavioral and cognitive alterations.

Unión Médica also highlighted the importance of a multidisciplinary approach, involving neurologists, neuropsychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other specialists, in order to adapt treatments to the individual needs of each person. Although the disease still has no definitive cure, the clinic underlines that scientific evidence and clinical practice have shown encouraging results that open the door to new therapies and approaches. With this initiative, Unión Médica del Norte reaffirms its commitment to medical innovation, humanized care, and comprehensive support for patients and their families.
