Community members hold a pot-banging protest in front of a police station demanding justice for the death of a young man

Santo Domingo Oeste. — Dozens of residents from the Buenos Aires sector of Herrera demonstrated this Monday in front of the National Police station with a pot-banging protest to demand clarification regarding the death of the young man Darlin Enmanuel Mercado Reyes, which occurred in the Guajimía sector.

During the protest, participants banged pots and metal utensils while demanding a transparent investigation into the case and answers from the authorities.

The protesters also chanted slogans demanding the departure of General Eddy Pérez Peralta, regional director Z-8 of the National Police, while insisting that justice be served for the young man’s death.

The mobilization took place peacefully and brought together family members, neighbors, and community members, who reiterated their concern about the case and demanded that the investigations proceed with impartiality and that those responsible be brought to justice.

Darlin Enmanuel Mercado Reyes passed away in an incident that occurred in the Guajimía sector, in Herrera, Santo Domingo Oeste municipality. So far, the authorities have not offered new details on the progress of the investigations, nor have they commented on the demands expressed during the demonstration.
