COOPROHARINA begins construction of a new mill to produce up to 400 metric tons daily

The Cooperative of Multiple Services of Flour Processors (COOPROHARINA) began the construction of its new mill, which will be located in the Industrial District of Santo Domingo Oeste (DISDO), a project that is part of the cooperative’s expansion and modernization plan and involves an investment of RD$1,100 million. To boost this project, a financing agreement of RD$600 million was signed with the Banco de Desarrollo y Exportaciones (BANDEX). The work, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, will increase the current flour production capacity from 200 to 400 metric tons per day, which is equivalent to a 200% increase, in addition to a significant improvement in the quality of that product. The president of the Board of Directors of Cooproharina, Marino de Dios, highlighted that this construction represents an important step in strengthening the national flour industry, especially for flour processors and for the cooperative to offer a wider range of its Dorapan products. “This ambitious plan is considered a historic milestone for flour processors, considering that the new plant will allow to increase production efficiency, improve the quality of products and guarantee sufficient production for its partners and other clients of the cooperative, obtaining a competitive organization in the production of flour in the national market,” he said. He highlighted that with this investment, the cooperative fulfills its commitment to self-sufficiency in raw materials and food, as well as productive sovereignty and the competitiveness of the national flour sector, consolidating itself as a key player in strengthening the agro-industrial apparatus of the Dominican Republic.

The project, which will be carried out in two stages, contemplates in its first phase the construction of a plant for storage with a capacity of more than 31,000 metric tons and processing of wheat grains and in a second phase, the acquisition of advanced equipment to strengthen the cooperative’s productive capacity and

In the act, the words were also given by the president of the DISDO Cooproharina Commission, Hector Delgado, and, in addition, the words of the general manager, engineer Richard Despradel of the company Decker Soluciones SRL, who are carrying out the construction of the silos for the new mill, were received. Also participating were partners and collaborators of Cooproharina, who agreed in highlighting the importance of the project as a driver of development and generation of change.
