Santo Domingo.– Dr. Willy Victoria Ramírez submitted his resignation as director of the Marcelino Vélez Santana Hospital, a position he held since October 2020.
The resignation was communicated through a letter addressed to Dr. Julio Landrón De la Rosa, executive director of the National Health Service (SNS).
“Distinguished director: Kindly serve this to inform you of my formal resignation from the position of director of the Marcelino Vélez Santana Hospital as of March 3, 2026,” expresses the anesthesiologist in the letter.
Victoria Ramírez took over the management of the hospital center, replacing Dr. Frank Soto, leading the institution for more than five years.
Professional Career
The doctor graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD). He holds a master’s degree in Health Systems and Services Management from the Universidad Tecnológica de Barahona, a specialization in Anesthesiology from the Hospital Docente Padre Billini, and a law degree from the Universidad de la Tercera Edad (UTE).
In the academic field, he has worked as a contracted teacher at UASD in the subjects of Pharmacology I and General Pharmacology.
He also held positions as manager and teaching coordinator of the Anesthesiology department at Dr. Vinicio Calventi.
Throughout his career, he has been a lecturer at national and international conferences, presenting research in medical journals and participating in clinical consultations and postgraduate theses in anesthesiology.
In his professional practice, he has worked as an anesthesiologist at Padre Billini Hospital, Dr. Vinicio Calventi Hospital, Centro Médico Caribe, and Centro Oftalmológico Metropolitano.
So far, the National Health Service has not reported who will assume the direction of the Marcelino Vélez Santana after the
resignation.
