Dominican medical team exceeds 1,200 treatments for those affected by the earthquakes in Venezuela

Santo Domingo.– The health mission sent by the Dominican Republic to Venezuela continues to provide assistance to the people affected by the earthquakes that shook that country. In just six days of operations, the Dominican medical team has provided more than 1,200 consultations, becoming an important point of support for the impacted communities.

The Ministry of Public Health reported that the field hospital installed in the disaster zone receives dozens of patients daily who require consultations, medication, vaccination, psychological support, and other essential services, as part of the humanitarian response coordinated by the Dominican Government.

Mission statistics reflect that so far 710 general and emergency consultations, 232 gynecological visits, 144 pediatric consultations, and 114 mental health interventions have been carried out, in addition to the delivery of medical treatments and supplies for those affected by the earthquake.

The team’s work is not limited to clinical care. It also carries out vaccination campaigns, conducts diagnostic studies, distributes water suitable for human consumption, and executes environmental sanitation and health promotion actions, with the purpose of preventing diseases in the affected communities.

Only during Saturday, 181 people were attended to, which reflects the growing demand for medical services at the field hospital operated by Dominican personnel.

The mission is composed of doctors, nurses, psychologists, pharmacists, water and sanitation specialists, as well as logistics personnel, who work under international protocols to guarantee timely and safe care.

The authorities highlighted that this deployment marks a historic milestone for the country, as it is the first international operation of a Type 1 Emergency Medical Team (EMT Type 1) from the Dominican Republic certified by the World Health Organization (WHO).
